I'm laser focused on expressive, timeless designs with sustainable credentials,
working to challenge the current paradigm in apparel manufacture with a
bold vision for a co-operatively run, environmentally friendly label owned by
its workers that serves the needs of my local community.
By applying the lessons of the past to the needs and opportunities of the
present, I look to create garments from the ground up, drawing ideas, techniques and
inspiration not only from the conventional realms but from her background in
philosophy, history and the Tasmanian landscape and community that remains close
to my heart.
I'm unabashedly passionate and vocal about the state of workers rights and
the environmental impacts in the apparel industry, in fact it's one of the main
reasons I've decided to pivot to apparel production from my previous field of
Philosophy. Although the two seem totally unrelated, for me they are both an
integral part of my journey to this point, as the inital spark to pursue apparel
production was borne out of a burning need to not just write and talk about
ethics but put them into action in a practical way.
Career Goal
To launch a garment workers co-operative manufacturing quality, ethical clothing for my local community to help improve conditions in the apparel industry.
